  • Hi guys, this is my first post after browsing the forums a bit.

    I’m very new to djaying and my genre of choice is Full on psy-trance. I’ve been learning Reason and Cubase with a M-Audio Oxygen-8 for a while, making basic Psybient arrangments but started getting into Djaying recently. So basically, I’m learning to produce ambient psychedelic stuff, but like to mix Heavy full-on psychedelic music when Djaying (strange I know, since they are opposites). I got Traktor as a gift and would’nt really be into djaying if I didn’t. So Im saving for a Mixtrack pro which Ill be getting in a month to use with my Oxygen8 since Ill be able to map everything using these units similtaneously. As I practice and get better, ill upgrade the hardware and my PC but as of now I have a problem.

    I’m struggling with loop rolls in Tracktor and found a work around but wanted to know if there’s another way of doing this since googling it didn’t help.

    My problem is that loop rolls in Traktor doesn’t jump to the place it would be if the loop wasn’t activated. It basically just comes out of the loop where ever it is at the time of disengaging it. I saw some tutorials on Youtube with Serato where the track keeps playing(on mute) while the loop roll is active, and comes out where it would of been if the loop-roll wasn’t engadged. Is there a way to do this in Traktor? Someone suggested using Beatmasher but it doesn’t sound exactly the same.

    The way I’ve worked around this is by using all 8 Hot cues in Traktor on most of my tracks, hot cueing build ups, break downs, intros, outros, quiet parts, heavy parts, etc. Since loop rolls lead either to a further build up or break down, I hit one of the hot cues to come out of a loop roll, either into a break down or further build up (not sure if Im explaining this properly). Is this the only way to do it, or is there something similar like Serato has? Luckily, I have a 49 key midi keyboard so mapping all those hot cues isn’t a problem.

Traktor offers two methods to shorten a loop. The standard method moves the Loop Out point. However, you can move the Loop In point too, which can be more appropriate in some circumstances. This Traktor Bible mini tutorial shows how it works. Aug 11, 2010  actually, the thread was about how to get a loop roll effect like in serato but with traktor, so i answered the question, correctly of that matter! A roll is a roll, whether its via seratos loop roll, traktors beatmasher, or all DJM series mixers.
