Traktor Pro 3 Mapping Keyboard
Hi all, quick hello to the community. I just signed up and am fairly new to the digital world of djing. Used to spin vinyl back in the days then lost djing and now am trying to understand what has changed and how things are done in 2016.
So I have Trakor Scratch Pro and am having a somewhat hard time figuring out the basics. Did use mixxx for a little bit but somewhat got tired of the laggy performance and UI issues it still has.
There is this nice cheatsheet of keyboard shortcuts for traktor:

But how do I enable that? Under settings > Controller Manager I set 'Generic Keyboard' for device and 'Keyboard' for In-Port.
But that leaves me with an empty assignment table. Should I expect something to show up there?
If anybody can explain how to enable and use those keyboard shortcuts, that would be highly appreciated.
Thx!

Make sure the device is Traktor Default (or whatever similar) and the In-Port is Keyboard. That's the default keyboard mapping. Hopefully that. I’m gonna start surfing the web for this info but if anyone here has good suggestions, please let me know. I’m looking for an efficient way to map Tracktor on the keyboard. I remember reading somewhere here that Phil actually DJ’ed in public like this for a while. So, I know it can be done. I’m using the default one but I’m still learning what certain things do.
Things that puzzle me are:
1) That crossfader! Probably the most important thing i’m looking for. Something that directly switches from deck A to B and also a different setting that allows for a more gradual change.
2) FX units: Less is more in my case. I’ve messed around with most of them but only see myself using reverb, flanger, delay, and gater for the time being. That’s pretty much it for now. I’m actually gonna try mixing a set right now and see if I can think of any other functions I would consider important before searching online.
Hello Mike 🙂

Vst torrent download. I just finished going through two 30 min demo sessions with the Traktor demo (which I’m perfectly happy for the time being. I will buy it soon though!) The more I mix songs together, the more I fall in love with this!!!! Slowly but surely i’m learning my tracks inside and out and i’m starting to feel which ones go good together.
Current mood: 😀
This is Excellent Mike 🙂 🙂
It is that ‘Inner Feeling’ that DJ’ing Gives Us that we just Can’t Get Anywhere Else; that tells us whether this is ‘For Us Or Not’; and you have that ‘Feeling’; and this is All That Matters; Everything Else will come Naturally from now on 😎
Current Mood For You 😀Traktor has most of its commands mapped to the keyboard already. If you buy it, you’ll get a printout with all the key mapping. I thought I had a picture of what it looks like, but I can’t find it at the moment.
That said, you can re-map any key to an application function. It is not the most user-friendly mapping editor. Why Native Instruments hasn’t changed it yet, I’m not sure. They should though.

True, but have you seen VDJ’s mapping editor? They have their own scripting language to map stuff! At least Traktor gives you an easy drop down menu of commands.

I haven’t looked at VirtualDJ, no. Why NI can’t make it like LIVE is beyond me. I want to click the control and move my controller. It should be that simple.
There’s two default keyboard mappings that installed along with Traktor. Check in the NI folder in documents for the tsi file and the pdf. To load these mappings go to the controller manager and select add. There’s also a couple on traktorbible.com

I know him pretty well via the internet, he’s a good guy. Side note, his best friend works for NI.
